Contact: Heather Christine Tischbein, Executive Director Climate Cool™ Review and CertificationClimate Neutral Network
offers a confidential review and certification service to ensure that a company or organization's proposed portfolios of carbon emission
reduction and offset projects are scientifically sound, highly credible, and merit
broad stakeholder support.
CNN certification assures that a company or organization has completely offset the greenhouse gases generated at each stage of the life-cycle of a product or service: the sourcing of its materials; its manufacturing or production; and its distribution, use, and ultimate end-of-life disposition. Companies or institutions that offset all of the gases resulting from the full spectrum of their internal operations receive Climate Cool™ enterprise certification. Reductions and Offsets
Successful CNN certification applications include both internal reduction activities and offset purchases. Equipment upgrades, improvements in process and operations efficiency, and the use of renewable energy technologies are all examples of internal reduction activities that could be used as part of a Climate Cool™ certification application. External offset projects might include energy-efficiency and renewable-energy projects such as installing energy efficient lighting in a public school or purchasing rooftop photovoltaic systems for a community center. Offsets can also be made through greenhouse gas sequestration projects like the conservation and management of threatened forests or planting trees in a public park or urban setting. Climate Cool TrademarkCNN certified companies have access to the use of
a trademark and brand to clearly identify their certified products, services, and enterprises. Certified companies
may choose to license the Climate Cool™ trademark and brand for use in product or company promotion.
The Network actively protects the integrity of the trademark in the marketplace.
